William S. Pollack, Ph.D.,FAACP is Associate Professor of Psychology in the Department of Psychiatry, Harvard Medical School[HMS], part-time. He presently serves as: Senior Clinical Consultant and Research Director: on the Mental Health of Boys, Young Men & Men at The Cambridge Health Alliance[CHA]; and Training/Supervisory Faculty Member in the HMS/CHA Adult Psychiatry Residency Program, the Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Fellowship program, as well as the Psychology Internship & Fellowship programs at HMS/ CHA. Dr. Pollack is also a Senior Consultant in the Department of Psychiatry at McLean Hospital and senior clinical liaison to HMS/ CHA’s youth violence diversion/ “inoculation” program, the Safety Net Collaborative, in Cambridge, MA.

A Founding Principal of the National Violence Prevention and Study Center &Founder/ Director of The Centers for Men, Young Men & Boys, he functions as an Independent Consultant on Behavioral Threat Assessment, Sexual Harassment, Bullying, & Safe School and Work Climates. A Past President of the Massachusetts Psychological Association, a member the Boston Psychoanalytic Society, a Diplomate in Clinical Psychology (ABPP, Board Certified), a Fellow of the American Academy of Clinical Psychology [FAACP] and a Founding Member and Fellow of The Society for the Psychological Study of Men and Masculinity, Dr. Pollack is a Life Fellow of the American Psychological Association.

Dr. Pollack was appointed to and served on two United States Presidential Initiatives/Campaigns on: Youth Violence and Youth Development; and was a chief consultant to The United States Secret Service, including in its collaborative Safe Schools Initiative[SSI] with the U.S. Department of Education, a co-author of its THREAT ASSESSMENT IN SCHOOLS: A GUIDE TO MANAGING THREATENING SITUATIONS AND TO CREATING SAFE SCHOOL CLIMATES and the Principal Investigator of its published study: PRIOR KNOWLEDGE OF POTENTIAL SCHOOL-BASED VIOLENCE: INFORMATION STUDENTS LEARN MAY PREVENT A TARGETED ATTACK --The US Schools “ Bystander” Anti-Violence Project.

The author and/contributor of numerous peer reviewed research/ scholarly journal articles and book chapters, he co- authored two key chapters on Bullying & Violence in the books: "The Parents Guide to Psychological First Aid" and "School Rampage Shootings." This is in addition to his career of translating academic research-based behavioral concepts for larger public audiences as the author of one New York Times Best Selling book and three International bestsellers, a DVD and mp3 version of his work connecting boys and male youth development, and “the Boy Code” , including the pressures toward bullying and violence: The Real Boys® series.

In addition to numerous academic recognitions for his research, scholarly publications and clinical teaching, Dr. Pollack is a recipient a Presidential Award from the American Psychological Association, and a Distinguished Service Award from the US Secret Service, having distinguished himself as an international expert in his specialized fields.

An expert in the areas of: boy's /young men’s development/education; and boys / men's roles in society (including suicide prevention, depression, mental health and violence), threat assessment of potential violence, school safety & safe”connected” climates (including violence/ bullying prevention), workplace violence, gender studies (male/female relationships), sexual harassment, and, organizational structure (including both school and corporate environments), he was the US representative to the UN/UNESCO International Conference (Paris) on 21st Century Trends in Gender and Education.

Dr, Pollack is an internationally recognized and sought after consultant and speaker. His work has been featured nationally and internationally in the popular print, social and broadcast media, including: The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, and U.S.A. Today, U.S. News & World Report, The Boston Globe, The Boston Herald, The London Sunday Independent, La Nouvelle Observeteur, Seventeen, Glamour, Self, Ladies Home Journal, Longevity, Time, Newsweek, People, The Today Show, NPR, CNN, Fresh Air, The BBC, Frontline, 20/20, 48 Hours, Dateline, Prime Time Live, Good Morning America, Larry King, 60 Minutes, PBS; and the Oprah Winfrey Show, amongst others.

Since inviting Kevin Cameron to collaborate in his work with the US Secret Service on the Safe Schools Initiative and “targeted violence threat assessment”, he has had the opportunity to work with teach and collaberate with him in both the US and Canada on his VTRA trainings and to co-present at his international Banff Conference. Dr. Pollack now serves as the Senior Clinical Consultant of the North American Center for Threat Assessment and Trauma Response.

Dr. Pollack resides in Newton, Massachusetts with his family, where he also maintains a private consulting practice in behavioral threat assessment & safe (non-bullying/non-harassing) climates,organizational consultation and psychoanalytically-informed clinical assessment and treatment.
